As a GCP DevOps Engineer, you will be instrumental in architecting, automating, and maintaining highly scalable cloud environments, leveraging Google’s suite of cloud-native tools, Kubernetes orchestration, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) methodologies.

✅ Key Responsibilities

1. Infrastructure Design & Implementation

  • Architect and deploy highly available, secure, and scalable infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform.

  • Design cloud-native solutions that optimize performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency.

  • Implement GCP best practices for resource provisioning and management.

2. CI/CD Pipeline Management

  • Develop, manage, and optimize Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment pipelines using Cloud Build, Jenkins, or GitLab CI.

  • Automate code testing, deployment, and rollback procedures to ensure agile delivery.

  • Enhance deployment frequency and reduce change failure rates through DevOps best practices.

3. Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

  • Utilize Terraform, GCP Deployment Manager, or similar tools to provision and manage infrastructure through code.

  • Maintain reusable IaC templates to promote repeatability and consistency across environments.

  • Collaborate with development and QA teams to standardize configuration and deployment processes.

4. Containerization & Orchestration

  • Manage and optimize containerized applications using Kubernetes (GKE).

  • Implement container lifecycle management and auto-scaling configurations.

  • Design secure Kubernetes clusters with effective namespace management and role-based access control (RBAC).

5. Monitoring & Reliability

  • Monitor application and infrastructure performance using tools like Stackdriver (Cloud Monitoring), Prometheus, and Grafana.

  • Establish service-level indicators (SLIs) and service-level objectives (SLOs) to ensure high reliability.

  • Proactively identify bottlenecks, errors, and anomalies in system performance.

6. Security & Compliance

  • Apply GCP security best practices across IAM roles, service accounts, encryption, and networking.

  • Ensure adherence to compliance frameworks (e.g., ISO, GDPR, HIPAA) as required by business use cases.

  • Implement vulnerability management and patching processes across the infrastructure stack.

7. Incident Management

  • Participate in on-call rotations for critical system issues and incidents.

  • Lead root cause analysis and post-mortem documentation for recurring issues.

  • Design failover and disaster recovery strategies to ensure business continuity.

8. Collaboration & Documentation

  • Work closely with developers, QA engineers, product managers, and architects to support end-to-end delivery.

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of infrastructure architecture, deployment pipelines, and operational procedures.

  • Conduct knowledge-sharing sessions with cross-functional teams to promote DevOps culture.

💡 Secondary Skills & Nice-to-Have Expertise

  • Cost Optimization: Experience with budgeting, monitoring GCP spend, and implementing cost control strategies using GCP Cost Management tools.

  • Cloud Governance: Familiarity with policies, quotas, and GCP Organization Structure for effective enterprise governance.

  • Monitoring Tools: Hands-on experience with monitoring and alerting platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, and Google Cloud Operations Suite (formerly Stackdriver).

  • Scripting: Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Shell, or Go for automating operational tasks and integrations.

  • Version Control & CI Tools: Deep understanding of Git workflows and integration with tools like GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket.
