Role Overview:

As a key member of the Advanced Electronics & Launch Systems (AELS) Project Management Team, the Assistant Manager / Manager will play a vital role in driving end-to-end project execution for complex electronic sub-systems. The role demands a hands-on project leader who can manage multiple workstreams, collaborate with internal stakeholders and clients, and deliver projects within scope, schedule, and budget constraints.

For those appointed at the Manager level, responsibilities will extend to leading multiple project teams, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring overall program coordination across business verticals.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Project Planning & Monitoring:

  • Utilize Concerto (L&T’s Project Management Tool) to meticulously plan, monitor, and track progress across multiple project phases.
  • Organize and lead periodic review meetings to assess project status, address deviations, and realign timelines.

2. Financial Oversight:

  • Monitor and control project cash flows, ensuring adherence to budget allocations and forecasting future financial requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with finance teams to ensure clarity in financial reporting and promptly address any deviations from budgeted expenditures.

3. Risk Identification & Mitigation:

  • Identify potential project risks at an early stage and develop mitigation plans to minimize impact.
  • Maintain a dynamic risk register and conduct regular risk review sessions with stakeholders.

4. Customer Coordination:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customer communication related to project deliverables, progress, and technical clarifications.
  • Conduct periodic client meetings to gather feedback and ensure alignment with customer expectations.

5. Cross-Functional Team Collaboration:

  • Coordinate across internal teams including design, procurement, quality, and production to ensure seamless execution.
  • Resolve conflicts among stakeholders and ensure all teams are working toward shared objectives.

6. Estimation & Proposal Support:

  • Prepare detailed cost estimations for incoming business opportunities and assist in proposal documentation.
  • Collaborate with business development and engineering teams to support strategic bids.

7. Status Reporting:

  • Compile and disseminate project status updates on a weekly/monthly basis to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide executive dashboards for senior management highlighting project KPIs, progress, and risks.

8. Site Travel (As Required):

  • Travel to customer locations or project sites for review meetings, commissioning activities, or problem resolution.
  • Ensure on-site execution aligns with planned schedules and quality standards.

9. MS Project Proficiency:

  • Demonstrate strong hands-on expertise in MS Project to develop Gantt charts, critical path analysis, and project tracking.
  • Leverage MS Office tools for presentations, reports, and document control.

Candidate Profile:

Education & Qualifications:

  • A full-time degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering from a reputed and accredited university or institute.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years (for Assistant Manager) and up to 10 years (for Manager) in project management, preferably within an electronics or precision engineering environment.
