Position Overview: Data Development Architect

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Development Architect to join our dynamic team. As a Data Architect at SAP, you will design and implement large-scale data architectures that support efficient, scalable, and robust data pipelines. You will play a vital role in optimizing ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, designing comprehensive data models, and developing microservices that integrate seamlessly with various systems. As a Data Development Architect, you will leverage your expertise in Java, Python, Spark, and other technologies while driving best practices in both data engineering and DevOps. Key Responsibilities:

Design and Build Scalable ETL Pipelines:
Architect, design, and optimize large-scale ETL/ELT pipelines with an emphasis on performance, scalability, and data integrity. You will ensure the seamless integration of data pipelines within the overall data ecosystem, helping businesses manage and analyze large datasets.

Microservices Development and Maintenance:
Lead the design and development of microservices that manage data processing tasks. You will create reusable, scalable, and maintainable services that can scale efficiently to meet business needs. These services are central to managing data workflows across multiple platforms.

Data Integration and Transformation:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement data integration from multiple systems, such as HCM (Human Capital Management) and data platforms. Focus on transforming, cleansing, and deduplicating data while ensuring the pipelines remain efficient and maintainable.

Optimize Data Processing:
Focus on optimizing the performance of ETL pipelines, prioritizing real-time data processing with low-latency delivery. Troubleshoot and debug complex issues within distributed systems to ensure smooth and uninterrupted data workflows.

Database and Big Data Tools Management:
Leverage tools like SQL, Hive, HBase, and Parquet to manage large-scale datasets. Ensure that data is queried, stored, and processed efficiently, keeping the performance cost-effective and scalable.

Performance Optimization and Data Quality:
Lead initiatives to maintain and improve data quality across data pipelines. Implement data transformation and performance optimization techniques to ensure data pipelines deliver high-quality, reliable data at all times.

Collaboration and Mentorship:
Work closely with Data Scientists, Analysts, and Engineers to ensure smooth data integration and quality outcomes. Provide leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, promoting best practices in data engineering and DevOps.

Skills & Competencies:

Strong Technical Expertise:

In-depth knowledge of programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala to build scalable data pipelines and microservices.
Proficiency with Apache Spark, Kafka, and Airflow for building workflows and handling large datasets efficiently.
Expertise in SQL for interacting with databases, querying structured data, and ensuring optimized operations.
Experience in Microservices Architecture:

Hands-on experience in designing and implementing microservices that manage data services in a modular and scalable manner.
Ability to architect systems that can be deployed, monitored, and maintained in a cloud environment.
DevOps Expertise:

Proficiency with DevOps tools like Jenkins, Git, Docker, and Kubernetes to automate testing, deployment, and scaling of data systems using Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD).
Big Data & Distributed Systems:

Experience with big data tools such as Hive, HBase, and Parquet for handling and managing large-scale datasets.
A solid understanding of cloud-based infrastructure and data lake architectures, ensuring high scalability and reliability.
Machine Learning Integration:

Familiarity with integrating machine learning (ML) workflows into data engineering pipelines.
Experience automating ML data processing and deployment to enhance predictive capabilities.
Problem Solving and Debugging:

Expertise in identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving performance issues in distributed systems.
Proficient in root cause analysis, error handling, and fault tolerance strategies to ensure data integrity.
Real-Time Data Processing:

Skilled in optimizing real-time data processing pipelines, ensuring low-latency and high-throughput performance at scale.
Work Experience & Education:

A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in data architecture, programming, and system troubleshooting is required.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field is essential.
