Job Overview

We are hiring a Painting Quality Control Supervisor to lead, supervise, and ensure quality excellence in painting and coating operations across large-scale industrial projects, particularly in the oil, gas, petrochemical, and infrastructure sectors. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in painting quality control, team management, and compliance with Saudi Aramco project requirements.

This role involves overseeing all aspects of paint shop operations, including maintenance of equipment, labour supervision, training, quality inspection, and compliance with environmental and customer specifications.


Educational and Experience Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Engineering, Coatings Technology, or a related field. A university degree is preferred.

Experience Requirements:

  • 7+ years of inspection experience with a university degree or 10+ years with a high school diploma.
  • Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in construction projects under the scope of Saudi Aramco (or similar).
  • Experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, infrastructure, or communications industry is mandatory.

Key Responsibilities

1. Painting & Coating Operations Oversight

  • Supervise all painting, blasting, and coating activities in accordance with project specifications and international standards.
  • Lead daily planning and coordination of labour activities in the paint shop and manufacturing areas.
  • Ensure all scheduled maintenance is executed on blast & paint equipment to prevent downtime.

2. Quality Control & Compliance

  • Conduct and supervise painting inspections at various stages of the project.
  • Ensure compliance with client specifications, Saudi Aramco standards, and industry codes.
  • Maintain rigorous adherence to environmental and quality protocols.
  • Liaise with both internal and external customers to address quality expectations.

3. Workforce Management & Training

  • Identify training needs within the paint crew and organize certified technical training.
  • Inform teams of new work methods, safety procedures, or changes in regulations.
  • Provide mentorship to junior inspectors and operators.

4. Shop & Yard Operations Supervision

  • Schedule and assign tasks to shop and yard contractor personnel.
  • Plan daily, weekly, and monthly workload based on project timelines.
  • Estimate paint materials, coatings, consumables, and labour needs for various projects.
  • Monitor inventory levels and initiate requisition of supplies as required.

5. Safety & Environmental Adherence

  • Implement strict health, safety, and environment (HSE) compliance practices across the team.
  • Lead safety briefings and participate in risk assessments.
  • Promote a safety-first culture by eliminating hazards and addressing near-misses.

6. Budget and Cost Control

  • Ensure shop expenditures stay within operational budgets.
  • Assist in preparing annual operations budgets for coatings/painting departments.
  • Prioritize resources and tasks to optimize labour and material use efficiently.

7. Customer Communication & Feedback Handling

  • Interface with clients and project teams to review paint/coating expectations.
  • Resolve client concerns and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure all customer specifications are translated into practical work instructions.

8. Housekeeping & Audit Compliance

  • Conduct daily shop and yard audits to maintain cleanliness and safety.
  • Ensure compliance with housekeeping standards aligned with industry benchmarks.
  • Submit regular audit reports and identify improvement areas.

Technical Skills Required

  • Knowledge of coating systems and application techniques (e.g., brush, roller, airless spray)
  • Familiarity with standards such as SSPC, NACE, ISO 12944, and Saudi Aramco project specifications
  • Hands-on knowledge of various paints and coatings (epoxies, polyurethanes, zinc-rich coatings)
  • Ability to read and interpret paint inspection test plans, datasheets, and safety protocols
  • Experience in measuring surface profile, humidity, wet/dry film thickness, and adhesion tests
