Position Overview

Wipro is seeking a highly skilled Application Architect – L1 to join its dynamic team in Bengaluru. The selected candidate will lead the architectural design of enterprise-grade applications, contribute to digital strategy, and enable business agility and scalability through modern application paradigms including microservices, service-oriented architecture, and cloud transformation.

Key Responsibilities

1. Enterprise Application Architecture & Solution Design

• Design and implement enterprise-wide application architecture to ensure systems are scalable, reliable, and manageable.
• Lead development efforts for new deals and significant change requests.
• Create technical proposals in response to RFPs, ensuring robust, scalable solutions.
• Define target state architecture while analyzing tradeoffs and improvement areas in the current state.
• Align architectural decisions with client-specific technology stacks and business goals.
• Apply modern architectural paradigms like SOA and microservices to enable digital scalability.
• Provide technical leadership throughout the solution lifecycle from planning to deployment.
• Recommend integration solutions and ecosystem alignment based on industry trends and application frameworks.
• Contribute to planning, risk identification, and mitigation during technical project phases.
• Create and monetize application APIs, offering clients scalable digital services.

2. Cloud Transformation & Modernization

Cloud Migration:

• Understand non-functional requirements for cloud transition.
• Create deployment architectures and interface catalogs.
• Identify dependencies and coordinate across internal IT and vendors.
• Support build and test teams during deployment cycles.

Cloud Modernization:

• Define integration-space target architecture and align with project pipeline.
• Deliver technical guidance and proof of concept (PoC) support.
• Implement modern tools and practices including DevOps and Agile to reduce manual intervention and accelerate development.

3. Application Development & Standardization

• Analyze application requirements and design standardized, reusable architecture.
• Develop patterns, services, and IPs for future reference and reuse.
• Reduce maintenance costs through standard tooling, uniform design, and modular applications.
• Coordinate technical inputs on risks, costs, and opportunities.
• Lead custom application development tailored to client requirements.
• Conduct regular design and code reviews with a focus on security and performance.
• Ensure alignment with development protocols, design standards, and enterprise-wide frameworks.
• Enable seamless integration of legacy and modern systems.
• Guide digital transformation initiatives integrating IoT, blockchain, automation, BOTS, and machine learning technologies.

4. Strategic Planning & Client Engagement

• Collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders to ensure architectural alignment with business strategy.
• Identify growth opportunities within existing client accounts (account mining).
• Lead workshops and technical sessions to communicate architectural plans.
• Influence investment roadmaps based on architectural targets and reusable solutions.
• Continuously track industry trends, recommending enhancements and planning for future IT requirements.

Desired Qualifications and Skills

Technical Competencies:

• Proficient in designing applications using microservices, SOA, and cloud-native principles.
• In-depth knowledge of enterprise application development, deployment architecture, and integration strategies.
• Hands-on experience with modern DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile delivery models.
• Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies.
• Strong command of application development frameworks and risk management techniques.

• Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage architectural reviews.
• Skilled in mentoring development teams and driving digital maturity.
