This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead the architectural design and implementation of large-scale elevated metro construction projects, shaping the urban transport landscape for millions of commuters.

If you’re a highly skilled architect with a passion for transit architecture and infrastructure design, and have a track record of delivering results in metro or similar civil mega-projects, this may be the perfect opportunity to advance your professional journey.

Key Responsibilities

As Chief Architect, you will be responsible for a wide array of design and project coordination activities that ensure the timely and high-quality execution of metro station architecture. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

1. Architectural Design Leadership

  • Develop and supervise architectural designs for elevated metro stations, platforms, and passenger interface zones.

  • Lead the preparation of working drawings, GFCs (Good for Construction), and detailed design documents across all architectural elements.

  • Conceptualize and finalize aesthetically pleasing yet functional layouts in compliance with safety and transport standards.

2. Finishing Work Detailing

  • Design and oversee all finishing works, including:

    • Flooring materials and layouts (tiles, granite, terrazzo, etc.).

    • Installation of wall cladding with materials such as composite panels, ceramic tiles, or metallic surfaces.

    • Mural placements, artwork, and interior aesthetics.

    • Stainless Steel (SS) railings, internal elevation treatments, and modular signage systems.

    • External façade development, including ACP cladding, glass walls, and louvers.

    • Landscaping and ground-level development surrounding metro stations.

3. Multi-Disciplinary Coordination

  • Collaborate with structural, MEP, and civil engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of architectural elements.

  • Coordinate with various vendors, material suppliers, and external consultants for timely procurement and specification alignment.

  • Review and validate BOQs (Bill of Quantities) and cost estimates related to architectural works.

4. Technical Expertise and Software Proficiency

  • Apply advanced skills in architectural software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and 3D visualization tools.

  • Ensure precise drafting, modeling, and revisions based on site changes and technical feedback.

  • Manage and maintain digital records and version control for all architectural deliverables.

5. Site Supervision and Execution Oversight

  • Visit sites regularly to monitor architectural progress and ensure design intent is maintained throughout execution.

  • Troubleshoot on-site architectural issues and provide effective solutions in coordination with project engineers.

  • Conduct inspections for mockups, finishing samples, and execution quality of cladding, flooring, and signage systems.

6. Risk Identification and Mitigation

  • Identify design-related risks and construction challenges, particularly those unique to metro environments such as crowd flow, vertical transport systems, and fire safety.

  • Propose design optimizations that reduce cost, enhance durability, and mitigate execution bottlenecks.

7. Team Leadership

  • Lead a team of architects and junior designers, providing mentorship and setting performance benchmarks.

  • Delegate responsibilities, track progress, and guarantee that outcomes meet project timelines and company objectives.

  • Conduct regular design reviews and workshops for knowledge sharing and process improvement.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will have a full-time B.Arch degree, ideally supplemented with a Master of Technology (M.Tech), and a minimum of 10 years of experience in architectural design and supervision of large-scale infrastructure projects, especially elevated metros.

Technical Skills:

  • Experienced in working with design and visualization tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite.

  • Sound knowledge of BOQ preparation, cost estimation, and material take-offs.

  • Familiarity with national and international metro rail architectural standards.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities for vendor and stakeholder coordination.

  • Analytical thinker with strong attention to detail and a keen sense of design aesthetics.

Domain Expertise:
