About the Role: APLA Supply Chain Sustainability Senior (Latin America Focus)

We are seeking an experienced APLA Supply Chain Sustainability Senior to be based in Mexico City. This key role will work with apparel and material manufacturers to ensure sustainability leadership and help achieve our ambitious targets. Success in this position requires expertise in executing sustainability strategies within global supply chains, ideally within a contract manufacturing environment.

The ideal candidate will have a strategic mindset and the ability to translate high-level sustainability goals into clear action plans. Strong communication, leadership, and accountability are crucial in this role. The selected individual will drive change, motivate stakeholders, and act as a trusted leader within the organization.

Who You’ll Work With

This role is a key part of NIKE’s Asia Pacific & Latin America (APLA) supply chain sustainability team and will report to the Director of APLA Responsible Supply Chain. You will collaborate with various stakeholders, including:

  • Partner and Material Managers
  • Global Sustainability Subject Matter Experts
  • RSC Subject Matter Experts
  • Government and Public Affairs Representatives
  • Legal and Compliance Teams
  • Communications and External Engagement Teams
  • NIKE Manufacturing Partners

By working closely with these teams, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that NIKE’s sustainability initiatives are effectively implemented across Latin America.

What We’re Looking For

To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (sustainability, business, supply chain management). A master’s degree in sustainability or business is preferred.
  • Experience: 5+ years of professional experience in manufacturing sustainability and strategy deployment at factory and country levels.
  • Key Competencies:
    • Ability to deploy and translate sustainability strategies into actionable steps.
    • Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on capability building.
    • Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building abilities.
    • Project management expertise, with strong attention to detail.
    • Performance management experience, ensuring measurable outcomes.
    • Ability to analyze and interpret sustainability data and metrics.
    • Strong business acumen and ability to use data to make compelling business cases for sustainability initiatives.
  • Language Skills: Fluent in English and Spanish, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Work Environment: Comfortable working in a cross-functional, dynamic environment.
  • Travel Requirements: Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (approximately 5% of the time).

Key Responsibilities

As part of NIKE’s Responsible Supply Chain (RSC) team, you will be responsible for driving sustainability performance across Latin American manufacturing partners. Your key responsibilities will include:

1. Leading Partner and Vendor Engagement

  • Work closely with apparel and material vendors to ensure alignment with NIKE’s sustainability targets.
  • Develop and deploy sustainability strategies and initiatives with key contract manufacturers.
  • Drive top-to-top engagement with vendor leadership to prioritize sustainability improvements.

2. Performance Management and Accountability

  • Implement clear performance tracking systems to measure sustainability impact.
  • Ensure transparency in reporting and track progress against goals.
  • Hold manufacturing partners accountable for meeting sustainability standards and continuous improvement.

3. Capability Development and Training

  • Provide coaching to factory location leadership on sustainability best practices.
  • Establish learning communities to encourage knowledge-sharing across factories.
  • Develop programs to elevate supplier capabilities in sustainability.

4. Risk Management and Mitigation

  • Identify potential risks to business continuity within the supply chain.
  • Develop and execute risk mitigation plans to address environmental and human rights concerns.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to anticipate and respond to sustainability-related challenges.

5. Supporting Strategic Sustainability Deployment

  • Assist the APLA RSC Director in implementing sustainability strategies at a country level.
  • Ensure alignment between corporate goals and regional execution.
  • Drive collaboration across functions to enhance supply chain sustainability efforts.
