Key Responsibilities

As an Analyst – Azure Data Engineer, you will be involved in a broad range of technical and solution-oriented activities, including but not limited to:

1. ETL Design and Development

• Design, build, and deploy ETL pipelines utilizing Azure Data Factory and PySpark to ensure efficient, scalable, and high-performing data workflows.
• Create data migration solutions for transitioning from on-premises to Azure cloud platforms.
• Integrate data from multiple sources, ensuring optimal performance and scalability.

2. Cloud-Based Data Solutions

• Design and deploy cloud-native solutions leveraging Azure services such as Logic Apps and Azure Synapse Analytics.
• Build serverless and event-driven architectures to support modern data processing needs.

3. PySpark Programming

• Write, enhance, and fine-tune PySpark scripts to manage both batch processing and real-time data streaming tasks efficiently.
• Ensure efficient handling of big data workloads with proper resource management.

4. Application Development Support

• Contribute to .NET-based code changes when required, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems.
• Create and maintain detailed technical documentation for code, architecture, and processes.

5. Testing and Quality Assurance

• Conduct comprehensive unit testing, verify output accuracy, and communicate test outcomes and recommendations clearly to stakeholders.
• Troubleshoot and resolve defects identified during QA or reported by product owners and end-users.

6. Production Support

• Provide Level 3 production support for application code and ETL processes.
• Diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks in production environments.

7. Project Contribution

• Actively participate in solution design, project planning, and SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) activities.
• Enforce and advocate best practices in ETL/data-oriented development projects.

About the Team – Solutions Delivery Canada

You will be joining the Solutions Delivery – Canada group, a vital division within the Information Technology Services (ITS) function. This team focuses on delivering technology-driven solutions that support Function and Marketplace Services as well as Management Information Systems.

Solutions Delivery Canada specializes in:

• Siebel, PeopleSoft, Microsoft technologies, and Lotus Notes solutions.
• Utilizing an efficient and structured system development approach to consistently achieve superior project outcomes.
• Collaborating across multiple specialized groups, including Usability, Application Architecture, Development, Quality Assurance, and Performance teams.

This collaborative structure ensures the delivery of robust, innovative, and user-focused technology solutions.

Required Qualifications and Skills

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline.
• Equivalent work experience in data engineering roles will also be considered.

Experience

• 1.5–2.5 years of professional experience with PySpark and Azure Data Factory.
• Hands-on experience with Azure services such as Logic Apps and Synapse Analytics.
• Familiarity with industry-standard ETL tools.

Technical Expertise

• Proficient in designing and delivering data integration solutions using PySpark and ADF.
• Preferred: Knowledge of IBM DataStage or similar ETL platforms.
• Basic programming skills in Python (preferred).
• Working knowledge of .NET development (preferred).
• Solid expertise in Microsoft SQL Server with a deep understanding of relational database design, management, and optimization principles.
• Experience in Web Service development (SOAP, XML, .NET) is an advantage.
• Familiarity with message queue systems is preferred.
• Knowledge of Microsoft System Center Orchestrator.
