Overview

Are you a seasoned data science professional with a deep understanding of computer vision, artificial intelligence, and IoT applications? A rewarding opportunity awaits experienced Vision Data Scientists in Bangalore. This full-time position is tailor-made for experts who are passionate about solving real-world challenges using advanced image processing and AI-driven insights.

If you have between 10 to 15 years of hands-on experience and seek to lead transformative projects in the intersection of data science and visual intelligence, this role could be your next big career move.

About the Role

The role of a Vision Data Scientist is a critical one within the broader technology and innovation function. As part of the Product Engineering team, you’ll spearhead the development and deployment of AI-based vision systems that enable machines to interpret and process visual data just like humans—only faster, more accurately, and at scale.

You’ll be working in a multidisciplinary environment, collaborating closely with IoT experts, machine learning engineers, product designers, and hardware teams to design intelligent solutions that transform visual data into actionable business intelligence.

Key Responsibilities

As a Vision Data Scientist, you will:

  • Lead Vision-Based AI Initiatives: Take ownership of designing and developing machine vision algorithms that support object detection, classification, segmentation, and tracking using deep learning architectures such as CNNs, RNNs, and Transformers.

  • IoT and Edge Device Integration: Collaborate with IoT and embedded systems teams to integrate vision AI models into smart sensors, edge devices, and industrial systems.

  • Data Acquisition & Annotation Pipelines: Oversee the creation of annotated datasets from image and video streams to ensure high model accuracy and low false positives/negatives.

  • Model Optimization & Deployment: Implement robust model training, tuning, pruning, and conversion techniques (e.g., TensorRT, OpenVINO) for real-time deployment on resource-constrained environments.

  • Innovation & R&D: Stay at the forefront of computer vision research, identifying new techniques, open-source tools, and algorithmic improvements that enhance product performance.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a technical bridge between data science, product engineering, UX teams, and customer stakeholders to translate visual AI capabilities into business solutions.

Required Skills and Expertise

To be successful in this role, candidates must demonstrate deep technical expertise combined with a visionary mindset.

Core Technical Competencies:

  • Proficiency in Python and libraries such as OpenCV, PyTorch, TensorFlow, and Keras

  • Experience with vision AI models, including YOLO, ResNet, UNet, and Mask R-CNN

  • Strong grasp of image processing techniques: filtering, edge detection, thresholding, contour analysis, etc.

  • Hands-on experience with IoT platforms and protocols such as MQTT, CoAP, and edge ML frameworks

  • Familiarity with GPU computing and model acceleration technologies (CUDA, TensorRT, ONNX)

  • Understanding of RESTful APIs, cloud services (AWS/GCP/Azure), and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)

Analytical & Soft Skills:

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical thinking capabilities

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to present data-driven insights clearly

  • Ability to mentor junior data scientists and collaborate in an agile team setup

  • Deep curiosity to explore new technologies and algorithms in computer vision

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (B.E. or B.Tech) in Computer Science, Electronics, Electrical, Information Technology, or a related discipline from a recognized university.

  • A Master’s or Ph.D. in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or Computer Vision is highly desirable and will be considered an added advantage.

Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 10 years and up to 15 years of relevant experience in applied data science, specifically in computer vision and visual analytics.

  • Proven track record of deploying AI-powered visual solutions in real-world production environments across industries like manufacturing, automotive, smart cities, or healthcare.
