The Lead Administrator – L2 role is designed for technology experts who can manage the architecture, design, planning, and daily operations of key IT towers such as platforms, databases, middleware, and backup systems. This role involves strategic thinking, hands-on administration, disaster recovery planning, automation for service improvement, and managing team productivity while maintaining service-level adherence and operational stability.


Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Architecture & Strategic Planning

  • Design and develop scalable and extensible architectures for platforms, databases, middleware, and backup systems.

  • Assist with planning and executing technology migrations, installations, and upgrades for enterprise projects.

  • Use advanced technical knowledge to exploit new functionalities and tools for optimizing database and platform performance.

  • Implement robust disaster recovery and backup frameworks that ensure business continuity.

  • Conduct technology capacity planning to forecast future system needs and mitigate bottlenecks.

2. Operational Excellence

  • Lead daily tower operations including monitoring, troubleshooting, RCA (Root Cause Analysis), and issue resolution.

  • Drive improvement in system performance through regular technical assessments and proactive tuning.

  • Create and enforce SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), data responsibility matrices, test plans, and operational documentation.

  • Ensure compliance with SLAs, including response time, resolution benchmarks, and uptime commitments.

  • Manage platform and system configurations, backups, patches, maintenance, and version control.

  • Leverage automation tools and AI-driven insights to implement a Service Improvement Plan (SIP) for continuous operational enhancement.

3. Stakeholder Communication and Reporting

  • Deliver weekly progress reports to internal and external stakeholders, summarizing platform performance, upgrades, incidents, and resolution paths.

  • Collaborate with clients, engineering teams, and support functions to align technical initiatives with business outcomes.


Team Management & Leadership

A critical aspect of this role is to lead a high-performing technical team and ensure a motivating, inclusive, and engaging work environment.

1. Resourcing and Talent Acquisition

  • Assess project and business demands to forecast and fulfill resourcing requirements.

  • Ensure optimal staffing by recruiting technically sound professionals and assisting reportees in making effective hiring decisions.

2. Training and Capability Building

  • Oversee onboarding, training, and technical upskilling of new and existing team members.

  • Promote knowledge sharing and build internal capabilities by mentoring high-potential (HiPo) team members for leadership progression.

3. Performance and Growth Management

  • Set clear performance expectations and KPIs for direct reports.

  • Conduct periodic performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and align individual goals with organizational objectives.

  • Ensure team members benefit from Wipro’s performance management programs like Performance Nxt.
