Based at the Ahmedabad Regional Sites, this role is pivotal in shaping and maintaining a strong safety culture across large-scale renewable energy construction projects.

Key Roles and Responsibilities
1. Promote EHS Awareness and Culture

Lead EHS awareness initiatives across the organization by organizing safety campaigns, competitions, and specialized programs.

Promote and instill a strong safety-first mindset among employees, subcontractors, and on-site workforce.

Ensure all personnel are aware of the organization’s EHS policy and goals.
2. Conduct Regular Safety Inspections and Audits

Perform daily EHS inspections and peptalks to maintain site-wide vigilance on safety protocols.

Lead weekly inspection routines and report discrepancies, hazards, and unsafe practices.

Ensure all fire-fighting systems and emergency equipment are operational and inspected regularly.
3. Fire Safety and Emergency Preparedness

Schedule and conduct periodic fire drills and evacuation mock exercises.

Implement a robust emergency response plan specific to each project site.

Ensure readiness of fire-fighting gear, water lines, alarm systems, and access points.
4. Incident Reporting and Risk Mitigation

Report all safety incidents, near-misses, and injuries as per the standardized communication protocol set by L&T Headquarters.

Conduct thorough accident investigations to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.

Ensure thorough documentation of all incidents along with key takeaways to facilitate continuous learning and future safety improvements.
5. Training and Capability Development

Identify the training needs of staff, subcontractors, and laborers concerning EHS practices.

Develop, schedule, and deliver engaging training programs on safety protocols, emergency handling, PPE usage, and work-at-height safety.

Ensure safety induction is conducted for all new site entrants, including staff and visitors.
6. Risk Assessment and SOP Development

Prepare comprehensive EHS risk assessments for all critical tasks and operations.

Facilitate the development and periodic review of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) aligned with updated safety guidelines.

Integrate hazard identification and job safety analysis in routine planning processes.
7. Legal and Regulatory Compliance

Stay updated with the latest changes in occupational health and safety legislation.

Conduct compliance checks to ensure all activities meet regulatory and statutory requirements.

Maintain audit-ready documentation and coordinate with government agencies and third-party inspectors.
8. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Management

Evaluate and ensure the quality and availability of PPEs at all work zones.

Inspect safety gadgets like helmets, harnesses, reflective jackets, gloves, and eye protection regularly.

Recommend and approve PPE procurement in line with industrial safety standards.

In-depth understanding of Occupational Health and Safety principles, construction site safety protocols, and effective risk management practices.

Preferred Candidate Profile

8 to 12 years of progressive experience in EHS roles, preferably in renewable energy, power transmission, or construction sectors.
