What You’ll Do

As a Machine Shop/Assembly Inspector, you’ll play a key role in ensuring that machining and assembly operations meet Caterpillar’s rigorous quality and safety standards. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Performing detailed inspections on machining and assembly processes
  • Participating in continuous improvement and problem-solving projects
  • Supporting engineers in conducting process capability studies
  • Assessing current workflows and applying targeted improvements to boost efficiency and maintain top-tier production standards

Required Qualifications

Candidates should meet the following essential criteria to qualify for this role:

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Skilled in using precision measuring instruments, including micrometers (inside and outside), depth gauges, vernier calipers, etc.
  • Ability to accurately interpret blueprints and technical standards
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Physically able to work up to 12-hour shifts when necessary
  • Comfortable working in confined spaces and at heights up to 15 feet

Preferred Qualifications

Stand out by having:

  • Experience with Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), particularly Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)
  • Proficiency in SAP or other enterprise-level resource planning systems
  • A background in industrial environments involving machining, manufacturing, or quality inspection processes

Compensation & Benefits

  • Hourly Pay: $25.86 – $28.02 (based on experience), plus a $1.00/hour 2nd shift differential
  • Summary Pay Range: $25.86 – $32.32 per hour, depending on qualifications, experience, and performance
