Data Scientist Responsibilities
As a Data Scientist at Microsoft, you will:
• Data Acquisition & Analysis: Acquirehandle, and process structured and unstructured data to obtain actionable insights.
• Statistical Modeling & AI Development: 
Apply data science principles and machine learning algorithms to develop predictive analytics solutions.
• Business Impact & Customer Solutions: 
Collaborate with customers to capture business challenges and customize solutions that deliver tangible impact.
• Cutting-Edge AI & Cloud Technologies: 
Develop AI-powered applications on Microsoft Azure and other cloud platforms.
• Thought Leadership & Industry Trends: 
Keep current with the newest data science trends, adding to best practices and innovation.
• Code Optimization & Debugging: 
Create production-quality code and solve difficult data science issues.
• Customer Engagement & Consulting: 
Collaborate with clients to find growth opportunities and refine their AI strategies.

Required Qualifications
To be considered for this role, candidates must have:
• Educational Background:
o PhD in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or a similar field.
OR
MSc degree in a related field with 1+ year of data science experience.
OR
o Bachelor
s degree in a related field with 2+ years of data science experience.
OR
o Equivalent 
data science, machine learning, or AI development professional experience.
• Customer-Facing Experience: Minimum 1+ years of experience in professional services, consulting, or direct customer project delivery.
• Citizenship Requirement:
o Due to the nature of the role and the clients served, U.S. citizenship verification will be required as part of the hiring process.

Preferred Qualifications
Candidates with the following qualifications will have a competitive advantage:

• Advanced Experience:
o PhD with 1+ years of data science experience, OR
o Master’s degree with 3+ years of experience, OR
o
Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of experience in data science, AI, or analytics.
• Cloud & AI Expertise: Knowledge of Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud AI/ML services.
• Strong Coding Skills: Working knowledge of Python, R, SQL, or equivalent programming languages.
• Machine Learning & Deep Learning Knowledge: Familiarity with TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, or other AI platforms.
• Willingness to Travel: Up to 25% travel as necessary for customer engagement and team collaboration.

Salary and Benefits
Microsoft provides a competitive starting salary and a rich benefits package, which includes:
• Base Salary Range (U.S.): $98,300 – $193,200 annually.
• San Francisco Bay Area & NYC Range: $127,200 – $208,800 annually.
• Additional Benefits: Health coverage, 401(k) matching, paid leave, and professional growth opportunities.
