The Role – Manager, Capital Allowances
The UK Government offers substantial tax relief to businesses that invest in eligible capital expenditures. Deloitte UK’s Capital Allowances team plays a pivotal role in helping clients identify, quantify, and claim these incentives in accordance with statutory guidelines.
Due to continued market success and increasing demand, we are expanding our UK Gi3 – Bangalore team and are looking for an experienced Capital Allowances Manager with a minimum of 6+ years of relevant experience. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a client-facing position from day one, managing both a team and a portfolio of clients.
You will engage directly with senior-level technical and finance leaders across client organizations, understanding the nature of their business operations, assessing the eligibility of their capital expenditure, and overseeing the preparation of robust and defensible claims for tax relief.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Support Deloitte UK Member Firm
- Collaborate closely with Deloitte UK’s Capital Allowances specialists to provide analytical and technical support.
- Ensure all deliverables meet UK tax authority guidelines and Deloitte’s quality standards.
- Analyze Technical Data & Documentation
- Review, interpret, and assess detailed technical and financial data related to client capital projects.
- Determine the correct classification and eligibility of expenditures for Capital Allowance claims.
- Manage Project Teams
- Lead project teams to capture accurate and complete cost data.
- Oversee the work allocation, guidance, and mentoring of junior team members.
- Prepare Capital Allowance Reports
- Develop clear, concise, and well-structured reports for submission to HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC).
- Justify and explain claim methodologies and expenditure classifications.
- Project & Client Management
- Simultaneously manage multiple client engagements, ensuring timely delivery and compliance.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing exceptional service and strategic insights.
- Leadership & Team Development
- Create an inclusive and high-performance culture.
- Recognize individual contributions and encourage professional growth within the team.
Qualifications & Skills Required
- Educational Background:
- A full-time Master’s degree in Finance or an equivalent qualification from a reputed university.
- Professional certifications such as ATT, CTA, or ACA are desirable but not mandatory.
- Experience:
- At least 6 years of relevant experience in Capital Allowances or a similar taxation role, ideally gained within a professional services or consulting environment.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of UK Capital Allowances legislation, rules, and guidelines.
- Ability to interpret technical data and transform it into structured reports for tax authority review.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.
- Ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams and collaborate across geographies.
