Position Overview: Product Consultant – Guidewire PC / Insurance Services

As a Product Consultant, you will play a critical role in facilitating business and technology integration in the insurance domain, particularly in Guidewire implementations. This position requires both technical acumen and consulting expertise, enabling seamless collaboration with clients, technical teams, and project stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities

1. Pre-Sales Engagement

  • Collaborate with the sales and solution response teams to showcase Cognizant’s capabilities in Guidewire-based insurance solutions.

  • Assist in drafting proposals, creating case studies, and developing demo scenarios under the guidance of senior consultants.

  • Participate in customer discussions and presentations, ensuring a deep understanding of technical feasibility and product fit.

2. Product Consulting & Customer Interaction

  • Work closely with clients to analyze their business requirements and translate them into practical Guidewire solutions.

  • Assist Product Consultants in recommending enhancements, product configuration, and feature extensions to meet client objectives.

  • Facilitate requirement gathering, conduct gap analysis, and propose technical recommendations aligned with industry best practices.

3. Project Management Support

  • Support project planning by preparing estimates and tracking deliverables across various stages of implementation.

  • Engage in team-building activities and help foster a positive, inclusive, and collaborative workplace environment.

  • Create and maintain project documentation including status reports, delivery checklists, and change impact assessments.

4. Design & Development

  • Contribute to the creation of high-level and detailed designs aligned with the requirements traceability matrix.

  • Collaborate with product specialists and developers to implement robust, scalable, and maintainable solutions.

  • Review technical designs and code to ensure they adhere to performance, scalability, and coding standards.

  • Drive design walkthroughs with clients, ensuring transparency and validation at each phase.

5. Testing & Quality Assurance

  • Develop and execute unit test cases for complex components.

  • Review testing strategy documents and support the QA team during system testing and user acceptance testing (UAT).

  • Provide defect resolution support and guide the team through production deployments and post-deployment validations.

6. Innovation & Process Improvement

  • Analyze recurring challenges and recommend strategic enhancements to optimize existing Guidewire configurations or modules for improved performance and efficiency.

  • Recommend best practices for implementation, deployment, and long-term support.

  • Document innovative ideas and improvements for internal knowledge sharing and customer benefit.

7. Capability Building & Knowledge Sharing

  • Create internal guides, checklists, and training modules to enable knowledge sharing within the team.

  • Deliver product-specific training and onboarding sessions for new joiners and junior consultants.

  • Contribute to internal knowledge assets, including FAQs, solution blueprints, and reusable components.

8. Team Leadership & People Management

  • Mentor junior team members on both technical and functional aspects of Guidewire.

  • Facilitate goal setting, provide feedback for performance appraisals, and identify training needs.

  • Participate in team-building initiatives and contribute to a healthy, collaborative work culture.


Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering (Computer Science, Information Technology, or related disciplines).

  • Experience: Proven experience with Guidewire ClaimCenter and/or PolicyCenter in consulting or implementation roles.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to interact directly with clients and technical teams.

Must-Have Skills

  • Guidewire ClaimCenter: Expertise in configuration, integration, and support.

Good-to-Have Skills

  • Gosu Programming Language: Ability to write and understand Gosu scripts for Guidewire customization.

  • Business Scorecard: Understanding of business performance metrics in insurance.

  • Web Services: Proficient in integrating SOAP and RESTful APIs within the Guidewire platform to enable seamless system communication and data exchange.

  • Business Services: Knowledge of insurance workflows and automation processes.

  • J2EE: Familiarity with Java-based enterprise applications and architectures.
