Position Overview

We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Quality Control Engineer to join our Nuclear Division at the Hazira Manufacturing Complex. This role is designed for experienced professionals who have a strong background in nuclear quality control processes, inspections, and documentation within a heavy engineering environment.

Experience Requirements

  • Experience Range: 3 to 5 years in quality control, preferably in the nuclear or heavy engineering sectors.

Educational Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualification: Graduate Diploma, Bachelor of Engineering (BE), or Bachelor of Technology (BTech) in a relevant discipline.

Core Skills and Technical Expertise

Nuclear Quality Control Activities

  • Document Review:
    • Thoroughly review documents received from vendors and suppliers.
    • Evaluate Quality Assurance Plans (QAPs), Travelers, and Lifetime Quality Records (LTFPS).
  • Material and Inspection Management:
    • Conduct raw material inspections to ensure compliance with standards.
    • Perform receipt inspections and clear Inspection Material Reports (IMR).
    • Oversee in-process inspections during manufacturing stages.
    • Execute final product inspections before delivery.
    • Manage dispatch inspections ensuring all dispatches meet stringent nuclear quality standards.
  • On-Site and Vendor Inspection:
    • Carry out inspection activities at the manufacturing shop floor, vendors’ locations, and suppliers’ sites.
    • Develop and maintain detailed inspection plans aligned with project requirements.

Coordination and Communication

  • Facilitate strong coordination with internal departments such as the Shop, Planning, Materials Control Center (MCC), Project Management Group (PMG), and customers.
  • Ensure timely communication and resolution of quality-related issues.

Certification and Testing

  • Qualification Requirements:
    • Must be qualified as Level II in Visual Examination (VT), Liquid Penetrant Examination (LPT), Magnetic Particle Examination (MPT), and Leak Testing (LT).
  • Welding and Data Review:
    • Review Welding Data Sheets (WDS) for compliance with project and industry standards.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Prepare and submit comprehensive history dockets to the Quality Assurance (QA) team.
  • Draft and manage Deviation Reports (DR) and Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) accurately.
  • Conduct spot checks and surveillance audits to maintain high-quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and approve vendor and supplier quality documentation.
  • Conduct inspections at various stages including raw material receipt, in-process manufacturing, and final product stages.
  • Plan and execute inspections at shop floors, vendors, and suppliers ensuring adherence to nuclear quality standards.
  • Maintain meticulous records of inspection activities and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and customers for seamless project execution.
  • Perform Level II NDT methods, ensuring qualification and calibration are up to date.
  • Submit detailed history dockets for completed projects.
  • Manage and track deviations and non-conformance reports, ensuring timely closures.
  • Perform surveillance activities to identify and address any gaps in quality processes.
  • Review and verify Welding Data Sheets to ensure conformity with specifications.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Strong understanding of nuclear quality control standards and inspection procedures.
  • Proficient in document review, inspection planning, and non-destructive testing methods.
  • Solid knowledge in the preparation and review of quality documentation and reports.
  • Ability to coordinate with multiple departments and external stakeholders effectively.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
