Electrical Commissioning and Testing Engineer

Required Experience

Candidates must have a minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience in commissioning, testing, and the O&M of electrical systems. Prior experience in electrical utilities within process plants, power plants, or solar installations is essential.

Educational Qualifications

• Minimum Qualification: Graduate Diploma in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

Electrical Equipment Expertise

• Comprehensive knowledge of the commissioning and testing of various electrical equipment.
• Extensive experience in managing Low Voltage (LT) networks and High Voltage (HT) control panels.
• Skilled in managing operations and diagnosing issues in switchyards, inverters, and UPS installations.
• Extensive experience with electrical testing kits and troubleshooting complex electrical faults.

Testing and Commissioning

• Lead testing activities across multiple sites, particularly focused on solar commissioning and O&M operations.
• Carry out detailed equipment testing and ensure all commissioning activities adhere to industry standards.
• Manage comprehensive documentation including commissioning reports and testing protocols.

Troubleshooting and Maintenance

• Strong analytical skills for diagnosing and rectifying faults in electrical systems.
• Ability to provide remote troubleshooting support to various O&M teams.
• Coordinate and resolve technical issues with minimal supervision.

Team Leadership and Stakeholder Management

• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams across multiple project sites.
• Effectively coordinate with internal site O&M teams and external clients.
• Skilled in managing internal and external stakeholders to ensure project milestones are met.

Software Proficiency

• Well-versed in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Adept at preparing technical reports, project documentation, and client presentations.

Communication Skills

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Capable of drafting detailed reports, troubleshooting guides, and client correspondence.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to interact effectively with clients, vendors, and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Testing Leadership:
  • Oversee all testing activities for electrical equipment at commissioning and O&M project sites.
  • Develop and enforce testing standards and procedures across solar projects.
• Project Coordination:
  • Collaborate with site O&M teams for smooth execution of commissioning and maintenance operations.
  • Serve as the main liaison facilitating communication and coordination between internal teams and clients.
• Remote Support and Troubleshooting:
  • Provide expert-level remote support for troubleshooting site-level electrical issues.
  • Implement remote diagnostics and corrective actions to minimize downtime.
• Equipment Handling and Reporting:
  • Manage the handling and usage of electrical testing kits.
  • Draft comprehensive commissioning and testing documentation for client delivery and internal record-keeping.
• Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Engage regularly with clients, understand their requirements, and deliver tailor-made solutions.
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors to ensure timely equipment delivery and installation.
• Compliance and Safety:
  • Ensure all commissioning and O&M activities are compliant with safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement within the team.

Travel Requirements

• Readiness to travel extensively, with a commitment to spending at least 50% of the time across multiple project locations nationwide.
• Flexibility to accommodate project-specific travel schedules and durations.
