Pay Scale
- Junior Overman (Trainee): ₹31,000 – ₹1,00,000 per month (S1 Grade)
- Mining Sirdar (Selection Grade-I): ₹26,000 – ₹1,10,000 per month (SG1 Grade)
Educational Qualification Requirements
For Junior Overman (Trainee):
- A three-year diploma or equivalent academic qualification in Mining or Mining Engineering.
- A valid Overman’s Competency Certificate awarded by the Director General of Mines Safety (DGMS) as per the Coal Mines Regulations 2017 or an equivalent recognized certification.
- Possession of a valid First Aid Certificate.
For Mining Sirdar (Selection Grade-I):
- Either:
- Diploma or Degree in any discipline other than Mining Engineering, along with a valid Mining Sirdar Certificate of Competency from DGMS, and a valid First Aid Certificate.
- Or a Diploma in Mining coupled with a recognized Overman’s Competency Certificate from DGMS and a current First Aid Certificate.
Selection Procedure
Candidates will be selected based on their performance in a written test. The written test will comprise:
- Part-I: General Aptitude (Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning, and General Awareness) at a diploma level – 30 marks
- Part-II: Subject Knowledge (relevant to the post) – 70 marks
Exam Pattern:

- Total Marks: 100
- Duration: 120 minutes
- Type: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
- Negative Marking: No
Qualifying Marks:
- UR/EWS: 50%
- SC/ST/OBC-NCL: 40% (for reserved vacancies)
- Project Affected Persons (PAPs): Eligible for an additional 20 bonus marks.
The final selection list will be prepared based on the candidates’ written test scores, with applicable PAP bonus marks added where eligible.
