The Indian Overseas Bank (IOB), one of India’s premier Public Sector Banks headquartered in Chennai, has officially announced the recruitment notification for Local Bank Officers (LBO) in Junior Management Grade Scale-I (JMGS-I) for the year 2025. Educational Qualifications and Eligibility Criteria

Nationality: Indian citizens, subjects of Nepal/Bhutan, Tibetan refugees (who arrived in India before 1st January 1962), or persons of Indian origin who have migrated from specified countries with a valid certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India.
Academic Qualification:
- A bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a university recognized by the Government of India or an equivalent qualification.
- Valid mark-sheet/degree certificate is mandatory at the time of registration.
Language Proficiency:
- Candidates must be proficient in the reading, writing, and speaking of the local language of the state they are applying for (Tamil, Odia, Marathi, Gujarati, Bengali, or Punjabi).
- A Language Proficiency Test (LPT) is mandatory unless the candidate has studied the local language in their 10th/12th curriculum.
Experience:
- Candidates with prior service as officers in Scheduled Commercial Banks may earn up to two advance increments based on matching job profiles with IOB Scale-I Generalist Officer.
- Employees from subsidiaries of Scheduled Commercial Banks are eligible for one advance increment.
Credit History:
- A minimum CIBIL score of 650 or above is required at the time of joining.

Salary Structure

Pay Scale: ₹48,480 – ₹85,920

The salary includes various allowances such as Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, City Compensatory Allowance, and others as applicable under bank rules.

Selection Process

Online Examination:
- Total Questions: 140
- Maximum Marks: 200
- Duration: 3 hours
- Subjects include Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, English Language, and General Awareness with Special Reference to Banking Industry.
Language Proficiency Test (LPT):
- Candidates shortlisted from the online exam must clear the LPT to assess their proficiency in the local language of the applied state.
Personal Interview:
- Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview.
- Weightage: 80% Online Test + 20% Interview
Final Selection:
- A merit list will be prepared based on the combined scores.
- Merit lists will be prepared state-wise and category-wise.
