Age Limit

Candidates applying for the Assistant Section Officer post must be aged between 21 and 32 years as of 1st January 2025, i.e., they must have been born between 02 January 1993 and 01 January 2004.

Age relaxation is applicable as follows:

SC/ST/SEBC/Women/Ex-Servicemen: 5 years

PwD (40% and above disability): 10 years

SC/ST PwD candidates: 15 years

Educational Qualifications & Other Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the OPSC ASO 2025 recruitment, candidates must possess:

Academic Qualification: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in any stream from a recognized university or equivalent institution.
Computer Knowledge: Proficiency in computer applications as specified in the notification.

Language Requirement: Candidates should have the capability to read, write, and communicate effectively in the Odia language. Candidates must fulfill one of the following:

Successfully completed the Middle School Examination with Odia included as one of the subjects.

Passed Matriculation or equivalent examination with Odia as the medium of instruction;

Passed in Odia as a language subject in Class-VII or above;

Cleared an Odia language test conducted by the School & Mass Education Department.

Other Requirements:

Must be a citizen of India.

Mentally and physically fit.

Must not have more than one living spouse (exceptions applicable).

Should not be disqualified or debarred by OPSC/UPSC/other state PSCs.

Selection Process

The selection process for OPSC Assistant Section Officer 2025 includes two main stages:

Stage 1: Written Examination (Objective Type – MCQs)

The written exam will consist of three papers with a total of 400 marks.

Paper I: General Awareness

Marks: 100

Duration: 1.5 hours

Number of Questions: 100 MCQs

Paper II: Reasoning & Mathematics

Reasoning & Mental Ability: 50 Marks

Mathematics (10th Standard Level): 50 Marks

UR Candidates: 35%

SC/ST/PwD: 30%

Ex-Servicemen: As per their respective category

Stage 2: Skill Test in Computer (Practical)

Candidates who qualify in the written exam (1.5 times the total vacancies) will be shortlisted for the Skill Test.

Total Marks: 50

Qualifying Marks: 40%

MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

MS Access

Internet usage

Final Selection Criteria

The final merit list will be prepared exclusively on the basis of the candidates’ performance in the written examination.

The Skill Test is of qualifying nature only.

Tie-breaking rules:

Higher marks in General Awareness (Paper I).

Older age will be given preference.
