Role Overview
As Chief Manager – Law, you will spearhead the legal strategy of the company and oversee legal compliance across departments. This is a senior leadership role that demands exceptional knowledge of corporate, civil, and regulatory laws. The selected candidate will play a vital role in liaising with key government and regulatory bodies, managing complex litigation, and advising senior management on legal risks and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
1. Legal Strategy & Compliance: Lead the legal division, offer opinions on diverse matters, and ensure the company remains fully compliant with national laws and sectoral regulations.
2. Litigation & Arbitration Management:** Represent the organization in legal proceedings including corporate, civil, consumer, criminal, and arbitration cases. Appear before CERC, APTEL, High Courts, Supreme Court, and other legal forums.
3. Drafting & Documentation: Prepare legal drafts for petitions, replies, loan agreements, NDAs, and housing lease contracts. Vet all legal documents to ensure clarity and compliance.
4. Regulatory Liaisoning: Build and maintain strong relationships with regulatory authorities, quasi-judicial bodies, tribunals, and courts.
5. Advisory Services: Provide legal insights on matters related to the operations and strategic direction of the organization.
6. Statutory Reporting: Maintain and update statutory legal records and ensure timely submission of legal compliance reports.
7. Interdepartmental Support: Collaborate with HR and other internal departments to resolve legal queries and interpret employment laws and contracts.

Required Qualifications & Experience
– Minimum of Graduate Degree in Law from a recognized university.
– At least 16 years of professional experience in legal services, litigation, and regulatory matters.
– Demonstrated expertise in arbitration, contract law, corporate legal advisory, and drafting of legal documents.
– Strong understanding of energy laws and the functioning of regulatory commissions.
– Previous experience in a leadership role in a government organization or large corporation is highly desirable.
Preferred Candidate Profile
– Age not exceeding 44 years as of 26/03/2025 (DOB on or after 27/04/1981).
– Exceptional drafting and vetting skills.
– Strong litigation experience with exposure to regulatory forums like CERC, APTEL.
– Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
– Working knowledge of legal compliance in public sector enterprises.
