About the Role: Industrial Hygienist—Early Career Position (2025 Graduate Program)
Bechtel is currently hiring recent university graduates for the role of industrial hygienist within our Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) Division. As part of this dynamic team, you’ll support industrial hygiene and occupational health programs across Bechtel’s diverse project portfolio. From infrastructure to energy and nuclear sectors, this is your opportunity to play a key role in creating safer workplaces and healthier environments.

Note: Work locations will vary based on project needs and may include offices, facilities, or active construction sites throughout the United States.

What Youll Do—Key Responsibilities
As an industrial hygienist 
with Bechtel, you will:
• 
Take part in creating and implementing standard industrial hygiene programs consistent with project-specific Safety and Health Management Plans (SHMP).
• 
Assist in establishing industrial hygiene plans, such as sampling procedures, exposure surveys, and training modules.
• 
Offer direction and technical advice to cross-functional project teams—Engineering, Construction, Commissioning, and Subcontracts—to integrate safety measures from planning to implementation.
• 
Translate and implement regulatory requirements to maintain compliance with federal, state, local, and Bechtel-specific ES&H standards.
• 
Perform inspections, air sampling, noise monitoring, and other industrial hygiene assessments to evaluate and control workplace health hazards.
• 
Develop and maintain recordssuch as risk assessments, industrial hygiene reports, and hazard analysis records.
• Participate in emergency response activities and assist with investigations related to occupational health incidents.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders, advising on regulatory issues and corrective measures.
• Enter and analyze data using Bechtel’s Industrial Hygiene Records System, tracking performance trends and identifying improvement areas.
• Collaborate with other ES&H disciplines to support a comprehensive approach to health, safety, and environmental excellence.

Who We’re Looking For—Basic Qualifications
To be eligible for this early-career industrial hygienist roleapplicants should have the following minimum qualifications:
• Bachelor
s or masters degree from an accredited college or university in industrial hygiene, occupational health, environmental science, or a related scientific field.
• 
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the capacity to convey technical information into actionable recommendations.
• 
Knowledge of major industrial hygiene standards and regulations, such as OSHA, ACGIH, NIOSH, and relevant federal/state guidelines.
• Knowledge of exposure assessment techniques, sampling instrumentation, and record-keeping methodologies.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data management tools to prepare presentations and technical reports.
• 
Proven ability to analyze air and noise monitoring results, exposure data, and compliance status.
• Experience or 
desire to teach and train others on ES&H subjects.
• 
Valid drivers license.

Preferred Qualifications—Ideal Candidate Profile
Although not necessary, the following will make your application stronger:
•Demonstrated skill in researching and interpreting complex organizational standards and regulatory requirements.
• Practical experience with field-based industrial hygiene monitoring equipment, sampling procedures, and exposure control techniques.
• Working knowledge of engineering controls, administrative controls, and personal protective equipment (PPE) for controlling occupational hazards.
• Knowledge of ISO 45001 management systems and how they interface with project health and safety operations.
• Capacity to adapt to outdoor conditionssuch as exposure to different weather and terrain at field or construction sites.
• Interest in cross-disciplinary work across environmental, safety, and industrial hygiene teams.
