Principal Embedded Software Engineer

Primary Duties
• Manage the development, design, and optimization of firmware and embedded software for different hardware products.
• Oversee the development of technical documentation for firmware usage to ensure accuracy and clarity.
• Inspect firmware code, give technical comments, and enforce coding best practices and standards.
•jvuManage programming resources and create detailed project plans to guarantee firmware functionality and efficiency.
•Manage several project teams of software engineers and outsourced development partners through all stages of design and development.
•Work with product architects, firmware groups, and product managers to offer technical expertise and solve intricate system-level problems.
•Perform detailed design and project reviews for adherence to industry standards and internal policies.
•Build and maintain close relationships with internal teams and outsourced development partners.
•Be a subject matter expert (SME) in firmware topics and provide technical guidance and creative solutions.
•Apply and implement new technologies in firmware development projects to promote efficiency and functionality.
•Train and instruct junior engineers to produce high-quality deliverables and promote professional development.
•Design, debug, and test embedded software for Bluetooth, USB, and DECT headsets through C/C++ and RTOS.
•Apply expertise in Bluetooth, USB, DECT, and DSP technologies to enhance device performance and user experience.
•Use AI/ML methods in embedded systems where appropriate.
Required Qualifications
•Bachelor’s or Master‘s degree in computer science, information systems, electrical engineering, or a related discipline.
•10+ years of experience in firmware development or an equivalent field.
•Strong C, C++, and embedded systems programming skills.
•Knowledge of real-time operating systems (RTOS) and firmware development.
•Knowledge of Linux, debugging tools, and version control systems (Git).
•Practical experience with new product development and software engineering practices.
•Hands-on experience in scripting and automation using Python.
•Good understanding of computer architecture, software development lifecycle, and algorithms.
•Firmware debugging and troubleshooting experience of embedded systems.
•Cross-functional team lead experience, multiple projects handling, and meeting deadlines.
•Leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Skills and Experience
•Hands-on experience in Bluetooth, USB, and DECT technology.
•Understanding of audio devices, digital signal processing (DSP), and AI/ML applications.
•Adeptness at Agile development philosophies and good practices.
•Background in electrical engineering concepts as pertains to embedded systems.

Compensation & Benefits
The minimum salary for this role is between $146,650 and $225,850 per year, with further scope for performance-based bonuses and equity. Pay is determined by location, job-specific experience, and abilities.
